By now it you’re a vaper, you’ve likely heard that the FDA has banned flavored pod style vapes and their refills but we’ve received quite a few questions about the specifics of the ban so we though we’d clarify. For starters, tobacco and menthol pods are not included in the ban for some reason. We imagine that the FDA likes to believe that tobacco and menthol flavors help smokers kick the habit but the reality is that they too are flavored and there is no real tobacco or menthol in the pods themselves.

Traditional vape juices for mod style or open tank vaporizers will still be available in every type of flavor imaginable and this is has been justified by the fact that the FDA believes more adults use tank based vapes whereas teens are more likely to use pod vapes. With the flavored vape pod ban supposedly being “temporary” vape pod manufactures can somehow apply to be exempt from the ban after a safety/health assessment and what is rumored to be a hefty application fee. The FDA also mentions something about the manufacturers having some type of process to make certain that their products aren’t being sold to minors when in reality the retail stores like our smoke and vape shop in Kansas City will be responsible making sure this process for is implemented correctly which we already do. There are very few details available about the application process itself but it would appear as though it is designed to thin out any “fly-by-night” vape manufacturers which we at KC Fumes smoke and vape shop don’t deal with anyway. With the ban taking effect officially on February 1st, 2020, January will be the last month for the foreseeable future that we will be able to sell flavored pod vapes and refills which means that we will not be ordering anymore. We urge our customers to stock up before the ban goes into effect because once it does (or we run out of flavored pods), it will be over and we will cease the sale of them.
